“This project gave me opportunities too access services that I wouldn’t have been able to elsewhere.”

“The Identity Project has enabled me to meet new people and I get more support from the LGBT youth group in the YMCA than I do anywhere else”

Identity is a 3 year project, (2014-2017), funded by the Welsh Government Equality and Inclusion Grant. It provides confidence building to enable young people, aged 14-25, with protected characteristics to gain the experience and skills to exercise their rights and make informed choices. It aims to combat isolation and provide support during their often difficult transition to adulthood, employment, training or further education.

The project is implemented across Wales through partnership working:

YMCA Swansea (Lead Body) – Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

North Wales Regional Equality Network – NWREN – Denbighshire, Conwy, Isle of Anglesey, Flintshire, Wrexham and Gwynedd.

Ethnic Youth Support Team –EYST – Cardiff
